Owen Taylor, CIC President/CEO
Owen Taylor, CIC
Owen is the president of ODI Group Captive and a nationally recognized expert in captive insurance, with 35 years of experience in the insurance industry. He trains brokers throughout the country and conducts regular seminars for business owners on using captive programs to help control their insurance costs. He’s been instrumental in creating a work environment where employees truly care about each other, their clients, and the success of the company. Owen is on the Board of Directors for Cristo Rey High School and is a Certified Insurance Counselor. He enjoys spending whatever spare time he has left in Lake Tahoe with family and friends.
Tim Dickison, CWCA Broker, Partner
Tim Dickison, CWCA
Tim Dickison has been a member of our team for over 11 years and is a Certified Workers’ Compensation Specialist (CWCS) and a Certified Insurance Counselor. Tim prides himself on delivering exceptional service, and is committed to the success of both clients and colleagues. Though Tim’s experience ranges far and wide, he specializes in the lumber and manufacturing industries, and has helped us win many broker awards. Before entering the insurance business, Tim studied sociology and waterfront management, had a short stint in the wine industry, and even won two silvers and a bronze at the California State Fair. He’s been happily married since 1991, has two adult children, and is an avid snow skier and boater.
Thea Curiel, CIC, CWCA Broker, Partner
Thea Curiel, CIC, CWCA
Thea Curiel joined our team in 2005, and has been helping our clients find solutions for their insurance and risk management needs ever since. With a BS from California State University, Chico, she specializes in workers’ compensation and first began her career in underwriting and marketing for an insurance carrier. Thea’s current focus is on the auto manufacturing and waste and recycling industries, among others, and she’s a member of the California Refuse Recycling Council. As a broker, Thea works closely with clients in cost containment, injury management, compliance and occupational safety. She holds designations as a Certified Insurance Counselor and Certified Work Comp Advisor, and works with the nonprofit “Friends of Meals on Wheels.” She also holds the honor of being designated an Insurance Business of America Elite Woman and Top Producer 2016. Whenever she manages to eke out some free time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with family.
Doug Esposito Broker
Doug joined our team in 2002, but his experience in the insurance industry stretches back to 1998. In a previous life, Doug worked in leadership for a general contractor, so he brings firsthand knowledge of construction risk management and a passion for great service. Our in-house contractor and energy industry expert, he’s worked in every aspect of the solar industry, from manufacturing and design to installation and service. Doug is a board member for the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA), a member of the Associated General Contractors (AGC), and the California Solar Energy Industry Association (Cal SEIA). He graduated with a B.S. from North Carolina State University and enjoys swimming, skiing, hiking, hunting, and spending quality time with his two children.
Kim Romero Director of Client Services
Director of Client Services
Kim joined us in 2004 and is a licensed property and casualty broker. She holds designations as a Certified Workers Compensation Advisor (CWCA) and a Professional in Human Resources (PHR), and has been in the insurance industry for 35 years and counting. In addition to supervising our client services department at ODI Group Captive, she actively advises clients on personnel issues from employee handbooks to employment practices. She and her department stay up to date on employee laws and regulations, and help make sure that all clients are compliant. Kim, a California native, spends as much time outdoors and in the mountains as she can, and enjoys competing in horse shows. She’s married to her high school sweetheart and has one son.
Eric Taylor Director of Risk Management

Eric’s been with us since 2004, and brings a varied background that gives him a unique insight into managing risk. After spending 13 years with the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment Standards Administration, he worked at Safeway investigating human resources issues and advising managers. At ODI Group Captive he visits clients on-site to evaluate safety programs, holds training sessions on harassment prevention, and helps with OSHA standard compliance. He’s a graduate of San Francisco State University, enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, and is a painter and photographer.
Peter Kitowski, CIC Broker
Peter Kitowski, CIC
Peter joined the team in 2000, and has been instrumental in passing along risk management advice to our clients ever since. He graduated from California State University, Sacramento with a B.S. in Marketing and earned his MBA from Sacramento State in 1986. His earlier experience as a broker has enabled him to give the perfect balance of experience and expertise, and he specializes in work with general engineering and specialty contractors. Peter has been active in the Sacramento Area Commerce and Trade Organization (SACTO) and the Construction Financial Management Association (CMFA). He’s recently remarried, has two grown children, and enjoys skiing, bicycle riding, and hiking.
Kristi O’Connor Manager of Claims Management
Manager of Claims Management
Kristi has been with us since 2004. She started her career as a legal assistant and office manager with a personal injury firm, and afterwards was a claims adjuster for ten years. She puts this experience to good use with us as she assists clients with claims, intervenes with carriers, reviews Experience Modifications, provides workers’ compensation management training, and much more. An instrumental part of the team, she is a Certified Workers’ Compensation Advisor (CWCA) and has completed IEA Claims Administration Courses. Kristi lives in East Sacramento with two of her three young adult children.
